In blue Memphis, little question remains: Power Poll members are of a mind to impeach the president.

Here was the question: "Based on what you now know, should the U.S. House of Representatives vote to impeach the president?"

Here were the results:

Yes: 75%

No: 21%

Don't know: 4%

Little is left to the imagination, but I will make a few observations.

Memphis/Shelby County is obviously a Democratic island. The other Democratic island is Davidson County and the city of Nashville. So to a large extent, this stance on impeaching the president is rather unsurprising news.

However, Memphis Power Poll members are not an overwhelmingly strident bunch. Thus, they bring a degree of equanimity and understanding to the table. But impeachment—a drastic measure by any sense of the imagination—is what they seem to want. Likely, the Power Poll members have reviewed the evidence thus far, and to the extent they feel comfortable making a decision on the issue, they want the president impeached, pure and simple.

That's all folks. Really not a lot to add to this question. Rarely do we survey on national issues, but we wanted to drop this one in for kicks. Thanks for taking part.

About Power Poll: Power Poll asks questions of the most powerful, influential people in U.S. cities. It is not a scientific survey. But because the people responding to the surveys comprise the leadership structure of their cities, the results afford a fascinating glimpse into the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of those in a position to make change. Power Poll is distinctly nonpartisan.
