We also asked how long they predict before things get back to normal.

It's been almost two years since COVID-19 first turned life upside down. And, if our Power Poll respondents are any indication, nobody thought the virus would still be looming over us.

Yet here we are, with yet another variant of the virus causing cases and hospitalizations to surge. So we checked in with our respondents: How are you holding up?

Most acknowledged the virus was taking a toll, but many said the impact is manageable.

When it comes to what the future holds, opinions were all over the map. We got responses ranging from "we're more or less back to normal already" to "it will take more than a year."

Despite any COVID weariness, most of our respondents said they are still taking important precautions. But many said their vigilance has slipped somewhat as the pandemic drags on.

We also asked respondents to rank which parts of their lives have been most affected by the pandemic. Overwhelmingly, they said it was their work life; after that, the picture was more mixed.

About Power Poll: Power Poll asks questions of the most powerful, influential people in U.S. cities. It is not a scientific survey. But because the people responding to the surveys comprise the leadership structure of their cities, the results afford a fascinating glimpse into the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of those in a position to make change. Power Poll is distinctly nonpartisan.
