It seems everyone is squeezing in their final summer trips before gearing up for a busy fall, and the same can be said here at the Serafin Power Poll. We were eager to take a “Poll of our Pollers” to learn what you think of our Power Poll and how your advice can improve it over the next few months. Your feedback and insight will be very helpful as we move forward.

We asked what might keep Power Pollers from participating in our monthly polls. A majority of pollers polled, 40%, voted that they would prefer a weekend poll as many Power Pollers are too busy during the week to dedicate time to completing it. 29% of Power Pollers said topics were not in their sweet spot. In addition, 24% were concerned about anonymity. To be clear: Power Poll is completely anonymous, even to us. The software employed by our Poll and in Power Polls in two dozen other cities around the country is designed with anonymity as the priority. Please don’t let that be a deterrent to answering our poll. Thom would be happy to answer your questions on this issue.

We asked if there was anything to incentivize pollers to answer more consistently. Several answered that they didn’t need any incentive (please, you’re too kind!) but some cited longer response times, simpler graphs, better topics, hosting in-person events, and more clarity and engagement on the polls.

An overwhelming majority voted yes to attending in-person events with Thom Serafin and other speakers. This is great news and we’re excited to announce events in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates!

Lastly, 79% of Power Pollers indicated an avid interest in discussing state and local politics and other issues. 10% mentioned national news, and only 4% were interested in real estate. A few other categories took in 1%. Along with your Power Poll voices we will continue to focus on the pressing issues within our community.

Thank you for being a loyal Power Poll member! We value your feedback and look forward to creating more insightful polls in the future. See you in September!

About Power Poll: Power Poll asks questions of the most powerful, influential people in U.S. cities. It is not a scientific survey. But because the people responding to the surveys comprise the leadership structure of their cities, the results afford a fascinating glimpse into the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of those in a position to make change. Power Poll is distinctly nonpartisan.
