Redistricting, healthcare expansion top legislative priorities
Redistricting, healthcare expansion top legislative priorities
There was a tie atop the long list of legislative priorities in our poll. Redistricting and healthcare expansion each received 25 percent of the vote. The second tier response was also a tie between employment development and education, two issues that are commonly related.
No other issue received 10 percent.
Those who want expanded Medicaid may be in luck. On Thursday, legislative leaders announced a plan that would add hundreds of thousands of low-income residents to the rolls through the Affordable Care Act.
The decision between burgers and dogs seemed to be an easy one among our respondents. It's burgers, hands down with a side of fries. The question was promted by a survey from the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council that found Raleigh and Greensboro the number one and two eaters of weiners per capita in the country.
That love apparently didn't carry over to the Camel City. Burgers were the top choice, with 33 percent saying it's thier go-to. Hot dogs garnished only 6 percent, trailing vegetarians. Lots of folks like international cuisines. My personal fave, Q (sliced lean white, please), came in a respectible third.
Our poll found little support for South Carolina Republican Nikki Haley in a North Carolina primary. Only 13 percent of respondents thought she'd win. That was less than the 22 percent former President Donald Trump tallied, but there may be trouble for both. A full 45 percent didn't expect either to win and sees the state likely to go for some other GOP candidate.
About Power Poll: Power Poll asks questions of the most powerful, influential people in U.S. cities. It is not a scientific survey. But because the people responding to the surveys comprise the leadership structure of their cities, the results afford a fascinating glimpse into the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of those in a position to make change. Power Poll is distinctly nonpartisan.
