NC Medicaid expansion, Trump's plans, and Thanksgiving pie
The support for Medicaid expansion among our poll respondents is overwhelming. Only 5 percent oppose the measure. Many supporters in N.C. thought the way the legislature was moving this year indicated expansion was on the way. But lawmakers ultimately pushed the decision to 2023.

Donald Trump won North Carolina in both 2016 and 2020, but there are strong doubts about his chances for a three-peat. The skeptic vote was almost evenly divided between those who said he'd lose and those who said he wouldn't even be the nominee. Only 9 percent say Trump would win North Carolina in 2024, now that he has officially announced he is running.
Finally, we have the answers to the toughest question on the board. There's no doubt North Carolinians love thier pie, from savory Moravian Chicken Pie in Wachovia country to Atlantic Beach Pie down at the coast, it's a staple on many a table here. Pecan is the top pick of our respondents, getting a quarter of all votes. All-American apple comes in second. I stand in solidarity with the one person who chose coconut. Four percent responded "I'm not from around here." Actually, they chose "I don't like pie," which is probably saying the same thing.
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all.
About Power Poll: Power Poll asks questions of the most powerful, influential people in U.S. cities. It is not a scientific survey. But because the people responding to the surveys comprise the leadership structure of their cities, the results afford a fascinating glimpse into the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of those in a position to make change. Power Poll is distinctly nonpartisan.
