Cafe owners report short-term pessimism and long-term optimism about their businesses. While nearly 62% said they were "a bit" or "a lot" more pessimistic right now, everyone who responded thought things would be better in a year. About 75% thought it would be "a bit" better in a year and 25% thought it would be "a lot" better.
The year time frame was about the time most (69%) owners thought it would take for their business to recover from COVID-19; the rest thought it would take just a few more months.
On a separate topic, most cafe owners said they've actively supported the racial protests at their businesses. However, a sizeable number said they have not done anything about this issue.
